Medieval City - Cathar castles - Canal du Midi
The name « Calvayrac » is rooted in the 13th century. At this tormented time, Calvayrac and hills Malepère belonged to the Dominican monks of Chapter of Montroyal, a village become now Montréal de l'Aude.
Located 15 minutes from the Medieval city of Carcassonne and the Canal du Midi, the Domaine de Calvayrac is an ideal holiday location to discover the rich history of the region, exploring Cathar castles, medieval villages, abbeys, and share the traditional gastronomy of the Sud Ouest.
The Domaine de Calvayrac is in the heart of the Cathar Country, in an luminous and preserved region (the Malepere) where quiet hills share their slopes between vines, pastures and forests of "yeuses" (green oaks). The area is certified NATURA 2000 - Area of flora and fauna interest by Europe for the quality of its environment.
In the west wing of the house are our three charming guest rooms, in a quiet and resting environment. The decor reflects the atmosphere of serenity of Calvayrac. Each room has a separate entrance and a private bathroom.
The evening, after a day spent to exploring the thousand treasures
of the Cathar country, you can relax with a walk in the
domaine, or an aperitif in the shade of the trees
before taking a seat at the guest table.
On sunny days, the table will be set up in the
garden, or inside to enjoy the freshness
of the large living room.
